Advanced Organic Acids Test

Do you feel tired without an obvious reason, experience brain fog, digestive problems or low mood — while your lab results appear ‘normal’? The Advanced Organic Acids Test analyzes more than 70 metabolites in urine to examine aspects conventional tests may not show: mitochondrial function, intestinal microbiota, neurotransmitters, detoxification capacity and functional levels of vitamins and minerals. Receive a detailed report in approximately 25 days and a personalized interpretation from a Health Code specialist: what the findings may mean and what steps you can consider.

What you eat reflects in your metabolism. Is yours working well?

Most symptoms that seem inexplicable—chronic fatigue, mental fog, digestive problems, anxiety, insomnia, food intolerances—have a metabolic root that conventional analytical testing does not detect. The Advanced Organic Acid Test is one of the most comprehensive and revealing tests in functional medicine: it analyzes more than 70 metabolites in urine to give you a precise picture of how your metabolic pathways, microbiota, nervous system, and detoxification capacity work.

What are organic acids and why are they so important?

Organic acids are the subproducts of cellular metabolism that are excreted by urine. Analyzing them is like reading the activity history of your cells: they reveal whether you are producing energy efficiently, whether your intestinal microbiota is in balance, whether you have functional nutritional deficiencies, whether your nervous system receives the precursors it needs, and whether your liver is detoxifying correctly.

What does this test detect?

The analysis covers more than 70 parameters grouped in 7 key areas:

Energy metabolism (Krebs cycle)

Evaluate whether your mitochondria produce energy optimally. An altered Krebs cycle explains the deep fatigue that does not improve with rest. It includes: glucaric, pyruvic, lactic, citric, aconitic, isocitric, α-ketoglutaric, succinic, fumaric, malic, and more.

Intestinal microbiota - Bacterial and fungal acids

Detects bacterial (SIBO) and fungal (Candida and others) overgrowth, evaluating markers such as arabinose, arabinitol, tartaric, hydroxybenzoic acids and other microbial origin metabolites.

Functional nutritional status - Vitamins and CoQ10

Identifies functional deficiencies of B-group vitamins (B6, B12, folate, biotin, riboflavin) and CoQ10, which do not always appear in a conventional blood analysis. Markers: methylcysteine, glutathric, xanthurenic, formaminoglycine, methylmalonic acid, and others.

Essential minerals

Sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum and selenium — to evaluate the real mineral status at the cellular level.

Detoxification and methylation

One of the most relevant areas in integrative medicine. It evaluates the liver's ability to eliminate toxins and the state of the methylation cycle. It includes markers of the methionine cycle (homocysteine, S-adenosylhomocysteine, taurine), state of sulfurated amino acids, uric acid (urea cycle), and heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury, cadmium, and lead.

Neurology and neurotransmitters

Evaluate the precursors and metabolites of the main neurotransmitters: dopamine (DOPA, DOPAC, homovalinic), serotonin (5-hydroxytryptophan), GABA, glutamate, and glutamic acid. It also measures lithium and aluminum. Key for understanding states of anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, or insomnia from a biochemical perspective.

Amino acids

Complete amino acid profile to evaluate the protein status, tissue synthesis and availability of metabolic precursors: alanine, arginine, leucine, lysine, valine, tryptophan, proline, carnosine and many more.

How does the process work?

  1. You receive the instructions and prepare the sample at home — you only need to collect the first morning urine (1st urination) and refrigerate it. We explain step by step how to do it correctly.
  2. You send the sample to the laboratory — The analysis is carried out with high-precision technology: LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ion chromatography, HPLC and spectrometry.
  3. We received your report in approximately 25 days — with all the detailed values and their reference ranges.
  4. A Health Code specialist interprets your results — We explain what each finding means, what relationship it has with your symptoms, and what dietary, nutritional or lifestyle interventions can make a difference in your case.

Who is it especially indicated for?

  • People with chronic fatigue or unexplained exhaustion despite getting enough sleep.
  • Those who suffer from mental fog, lack of concentration or memory.
  • People with anxiety, depression or mood disturbances who want to explore their biochemical origin.
  • People with chronic digestive problems: bloating, gas, irritable bowel, intolerances.
  • Those who suspect overgrowth of Candida or SIBO.
  • People with difficulty losing weight or managing energy metabolism.
  • Who want to optimize their nutritional supplementation with real data instead of assumptions.
  • People with exposure to environmental toxins or who want to evaluate their detoxification capacity.
